Kimberly V. Art is led by artist and teacher Kimberly Votaw, who has enjoyed and produced art for over 30 years and has taught for over 20 years. The program states that age does not determine ability or willingness to give it a solid try, and that “age focus” means a project is created with the median age in mind and extra help is provided to those who need it. Each monthly session of Art Explorations and Art Eras Tour focuses on a new art era or movement, moving chronologically from Ancient to Contemporary.

Art Explorations experiments with different mediums through guided projects. Art Eras Tour includes learning about the history, science, and artists of a time period, with projects in painting, drawing, and sculpting that replicate the art of that era or movement. Drawing / Painting includes step-by-step guided drawing and shading instruction with pencil and rendering in different painting mediums, starting with a famous art piece and then moving to projects the class chooses. Personal Project uses oil paint on projects students choose and is for those with enough art experience to create with some instruction. Masterpiece Thursday is open to students and their big people, with step-by-step instruction to create an acrylic 9x12 canvas board painting.

In-person and live virtual classes run at the same time, and in-studio students and “Zoomies” can see each other and show their progress if they choose. Students are encouraged to ask questions and receive instant feedback and personalized guidance through every brushstroke and pencil scratch. Virtual classes are available for students who would rather create from home, need to stay home from in-person class that day, or are far from the studio but want community. A class must have a minimum of three students for the session to begin, and the program offers several children’s art classes for ages 5–19 designed to grow technical knowledge and creative comfort within fine art projects, with a stated goal that there is a class for anybody anywhere at any skill level via in-person or virtual options.

Kimberly V. Art is a vendor for Visions, Vista Oaks, Valley View, Compass, and Sequoia Grove and is open to being a vendor for other charters. The program also offers single-sitting paintings for groups of any size at their location or virtually, including parties and team-building events, with the option to choose from a current library of projects or have one created for the event. The mission statement describes creating original, hand-made artwork designed to inspire and captivate, celebrating the beauty and goodness of the world.

Parent and student feedback includes comments that Kim is patient, friendly, and professional, that a teen student enjoyed class both in-studio and later on Zoom, that her artwork has received compliments from visitors, and that a first-time painter found the class simple to follow and fun, with a finished painting that others could recognize.
