Each monthly Art Explorations session focuses on a new art era or movement in chronological order from Ancient to Contemporary, using different mediums through guided projects. Each monthly Art Eras Tour session also focuses on a new art era or movement from Ancient to Contemporary, including history, science, and artists of that time, with projects in painting, drawing, and sculpting that replicate the art of that era or movement. Drawing/Painting includes step-by-step guided drawing and shading with pencil and rendering in different painting mediums, with the first project of the session based on a famous art piece and later projects chosen by the class. The Personal Project class uses oil paint on projects students choose and is for students with enough art experience to create with some instruction. A minimum of three students is required for a class session to begin.
In-person and live virtual Kimberly V. Art classes allow students in the studio and on Zoom to see each other and show their progress if they choose during class time. Students are encouraged to ask questions and receive instant feedback and personalized guidance throughout their drawing and painting. Virtual classes are available for students who prefer to create from home, need to stay home from in-person class, or live far from the studio but want to be in a community with fellow artists. Many different classes explore mediums such as acrylic, watercolor, charcoal, soft pastel, and more. Single-sitting paintings can be led for groups of any size at the group’s location or virtually, and these events can be used for party activities, employee team-building, or time with friends, with clients choosing from a library of projects or requesting a custom project for their event.
Kimberly V. Art states that every class and event is designed to inspire creativity, confidence, connection, and joyful self-expression. Kimberly Votaw leads the program, has enjoyed and produced art for over 30 years, and has taught for more than 20 years. Kimberly V. Art serves Concord, Walnut Creek, Pleasant Hill, Clayton, Martinez, Lafayette, Oakland, Berkeley, San Francisco, and communities throughout the East Bay and Bay Area, and also serves virtual clients nationwide. Kimberly V. Art is a vendor for Visions, Vista Oaks, Valley View, Compass, and Sequoia Grove and is open to being a vendor for other charters.
Parent and client feedback includes comments that Kim is described as patient, friendly, and professional, and that a teen student enjoyed class both in the studio and later on Zoom (Carmen F). Another client describes Kim Votaw’s art as bringing out the beauty in her subjects and notes owning a commissioned oil painting that has received many compliments (Liz D.). A participant in a class reports that the class was fun, that they had never painted before, and that the step-by-step approach made it simple to complete a recognizable painting, and they expressed interest in doing it again (Adrienne R.).
