About
theCoderSchool Summer Coding Camps - Cupertino offers in-person coding camps where kids work on video game development, robotics, Minecraft, Roblox, JavaScript with HTML/CSS, mobile game development, Python coding, and web development with HTML/CSS and JavaScript. Campers may do game development on the Scratch platform, coding in Minecraft and Roblox environments, and programming physical robots using mBot, including building an Obby (obstacle course) in Roblox Studio. Robotics activities can include autonomous navigation, line following, obstacle avoidance using ultrasonic sensors, color identification, and using gyroscope/accelerometer with robots.
• Ages: 6–18 years old
• Schedule: Camps run in the school from 9 am to 3 pm, with each day camp running for a full week; some camps are offered as half-day, and morning pre camp care and optional after care until 6 pm are available.
• Price: Optional after care until 6 pm available at $195/5-Day, $156/4-Day, $117/3-Day, $78/2-Day, or $39/1-Day; full-day in-person camps such as Python Startup, WebRox, Game Development, Minecraft Biome, Roblox FFA, and Robocode are listed between $499 and $599 after discount, with original prices between $699 and $799.
Founded in 2014 and headquartered in Silicon Valley, theCoderSchool runs these camps alongside its after-school custom-learning coding programs. Camps generally have a low ratio of students per coach, and camp instructors are Code Coaches who have successfully gone through the school’s onboarding process and are coders who know how to teach coding skills to kids. Each camp has recommendations around age and skill level, but all are open to discussion based on the child’s experience with coding.
Kids code throughout the week, and on the last day they get an included lunch and walk with staff to a nearby park to get away from the screens. For the rest of the week, kids bring their own lunches and water bottles, and they walk to a nearby park for lunch. At the end of the week, students give demos to show their work and critical thinking skills, and in the Robocode camp, students take their mBot kit home.
Camp registration may be canceled up to 30 days prior to the first day of camp for a full refund, and cancellations made up to 10 days prior are eligible for a 50% refund. Aftercare must be reserved at least 10 business days prior to camp.
Camp instructors are described as experienced Code Coaches in the program’s mission statement, which says that theCoderSchool focuses on personalized guidance, strong programming foundations, learning how AI works, using it responsibly, and thinking critically about technology, with an emphasis on creativity, problem solving, and confidence. TheCoderSchool is a longtime partner of the Congressional App Challenge and is collaborating with CAC beginning in 2025–2026 on a national recognition program to identify a handful of top applications from thousands of student submissions. The organization also runs a National Top App of the Month program, where it votes on the best app out of hundreds submitted nationwide by students.
Parent testimonials mention kids learning STEM concepts via coding with customized curriculum, enjoying online classes and camps, creating games and continuing to work on them between sessions, and being excited about Scratch camps and looking forward to returning.
