About

At Fairfax Cycling Camp, we pride ourselves on having a knack for teaching kids. Our founder, Mitch Brown, is a local public school teacher and Emile, who is now running our camp, has been teaching kids to mountain bike since 2002 when he started coaching the original Drake High MTB team member. We have helped thousands of kids become confidant on their bikes, helping them on a journey towards being life long cyclists.

At Fairfax Cycling Camp, we love biking and being in nature! We strive to share this love with your child in a context of safety, fun and support.

Riders aged 8 & up gather at 9 in the morning for a fun day on wheels, covering 8-16 miles, while learning safety, skills, & maintenance. Your child will connect with new friends and gain lasting relationships with older mentors in our thoughtful program which includes team building and cooperative games. We celebrate our achievements, and end each day at 3:30. Read more about why our youngest campers are 8 here.

Founded and operated by a local school teacher and his family, supporting the children in or care is our first priority. Each week is staffed by one adult leader, often a teacher, as well as several college and high school-aged counselors. Our highly experienced and qualified staff allows us to maintain a ratio of at least 5:1, ensuring that we are able to meet each campers’ needs safely. Read more about our crew here, and our Mentorship Training Program here.

Our campers have a wide age and ability range, from beginners who are comfortable on their bikes but new to mountain biking to riders who are highly skilled and fit enough to ride challenging single track. We take care to ensure that your child is in the right group! Our day is arranged to include a balance of time together as a large group, with smaller ride groups based on the ability of the camper.
Emile has lead mountain biking summer camps for No Limits Day Camp, San Domenico, and Mulholland Mountain Biking, MMTB. He loves helping people at all levels become better mountain bikers. Before starting MMTB in 2017, he volunteered his time coaching several high school or middle school mountain biking teams. Through MMTB, he has offered after school bike rides, day camps and adventurous camps where he brings local kids to destination riding areas like the Sierras and Mendocino coast.

Mitch, his wife Eileen and Emile share a passion for cycling, nature and getting more people outside and feeling good! We have many successful years of mountain bike camp experience. We pay special attention to children’s developmental and social needs while having a great time on the bike in our beautiful open space!
