Pine Springs Ranch Christian Camp has been a Christian camping site in Southern California since 1961, after the site was purchased to replace a 16-acre facility in nearby Idyllwild. The camp is owned and operated by the Southeastern California Conference of Seventh-day Adventists and is described as one of the largest and most modern camp and conference centers of its kind on the West Coast. The stated mission for its programs is “Calling campers to Christ,” and the theme for the summer is “Made for Change,” based on the Youth Department’s Core Value of Innovation and referencing Jeremiah 18:3–6 (NIV). In 2019, over 94% of parents who participated in the annual survey self-reported that they had a “positive” or “very positive” impression of Pine Springs Ranch Christian Camp.
PSR Camp reports that every seasonal camp team member completes a detailed application, interview, reference checks, and a background check before being hired. All staff participate in 10 days of staff training every season, and ropes course staff, archery staff, drivers, and trip staff receive additional training. All lifeguards are certified and then skill tested at Pine Springs Ranch Christian Camp before supervising aquatics areas. All counselors are at least 18 years of age, and over 90% of employees, including all counselors, are CPR and First Aid certified.
