About
Summer at Sequoyah includes activities such as water play, STEAM activities, stop-motion animation, filmmaking, dance, baking, boat racing, arts and crafts, and athletics focused on fundamentals, rules, skill building, physical conditioning, and team dynamics. Additional offerings include aviation, retro game design, and a Summer Band Experience with group rehearsals, individual practice time, an informal music appreciation “class,” and exploration of music history and music theory. Summer opportunities include the Summerhouse program, the Summerhouse Counselor-in-Training program, the Summer at Sequoyah Field Studies program, STEAMy Summer, the Summer Band Experience, and an athletics clinic open to all skill levels and all members of the community.

• Schedule: Camp days run from 8:00 a.m.–5:30 p.m., with registration in one-week blocks and a minimum of two weeks plus a mandatory training week for Counselor-in-Training participants
• Price: Summerhouse: 4-day holiday week: $516; 5-day week: $645; Daily drop-in rate: $145/day. Summerhouse Counselor-in-Training: 4-day holiday week: $220; 5-day week: $275; Athletics clinic: $260 per student (not including Homeroom fees). The Summerhouse Counselor-in-Training program is for students ages 12–17 and includes a week-long intensive training in management, operational, and leadership skills, along with a minimum of two additional weeks of participation. The Summer at Sequoyah Field Studies program is open to students who want a fun outdoor experience, and the outdoor education approach welcomes participants regardless of past experience or background to join peers in community among natural surroundings. STEAMy Summer offers programming in science, technology, engineering, art, and math, with Summer 2024 highlighting aviation and retro game design.
The Summer Band Experience is for young musicians with at least one year of experience on their instrument who want to play and perform with other kids, and all instruments are welcome. During this week-long band program, participants come up with a band name, choose and learn 3–4 songs as a group, and perform for Summerhouse campers at the end of the week. Each day includes group rehearsals, individual practice time with one-on-one guidance from band leader Dan Meyer, a lunch break, and an informal music appreciation class.
The band is led by guitarist, composer, and Sequoyah after-school music teacher Dan Meyer, who is the founder and guitar player of the heavy metal band Agriculture and a composer of film music. Activities in Summer at Sequoyah rotate week to week, and there is a daily registration option when space is available. Summer opportunities align with Sequoyah School’s mission to challenge the mind, nurture the heart, and celebrate human dignity.
