• Ages: 4–18 years old
Studio Fit Petaluma has been a home for fitness kickboxing and strength training for over 30 years. Owner Scott Sinan is a 5th degree black belt in Taekwondo and has been teaching Tae Kwon Do, self defense, kickboxing, and strength training classes for over 20 years, and he began teaching fitness classes in 1996. The leadership team includes Master Sinan (Owner | Coach | Mentor); Scott Sinan (Owner of Studio Fit and Martial Arts USA; Master Martial Artist; 5th Degree Black Belt Fitness Instructor/Self-Defense Coach/Rock Steady Coach); Yulianna Schmidt (Martial Arts USA & Studio Fit Manager, 4th Degree Black Belt, Martial Arts Instructor/Fitness Instructor); and Jeanette Perry (Morning Fit & Rock Steady Manager; Group Fitness Instructor/CPT/Health Coach/Rock Steady Coach). Instructors are described as highly skilled, experienced, multi-certified individuals and experienced certified coaches, and Jeanette Perry is a Group Fitness Instructor/CPT/Health Coach/Rock Steady Coach. The program’s curriculum is based on endurance, strength, flexibility, and balance, using an array of platforms as well as traditional martial arts principles, and it focuses on physical strength and technique as well as mental fortitude and discipline. Rock Steady Boxing at this studio is a non-contact boxing-based fitness curriculum for people with Parkinson’s disease and offers classes from age 4 and up. Kickboxing classes combine traditional kickboxing and rhythmic movement while kicking and hitting, and instructors provide individualized attention and guidance to each student. Nate favors practical applications and techniques and tries to incorporate focus mitts and pads into most routines, including youth, adult, and Rock Steady classes. The studio describes itself as community-focused, and Thea began her career working with the community teaching swim lessons for the City of Petaluma. The mission statement explains that the studio believes fitness training is about more than physical strength and endurance and is dedicated to empowering students and members through the practice of health and fitness. One youth parent, G. Paulson, recommends Studio Fit for its kids program and describes Ella, Nate, and Yulianna as instructors who share and teach their skill sets while making it fun.
