About
inGenius STEAM Summer Camp offers activities in computational thinking without coding, block coding with Scratch and Alice 3, and programming in Java and Python. Campers take part in a USA Computing Olympiad Workshop and work on digital art and 3D modeling. The program also includes creating apps, games, mods, and animations as part of its programming activities.

The program’s founding director is Mrs. Tami Johnson. inGenius states that it aims to inspire and empower the next generation of leaders in Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math (STEAM) by providing education, promoting innovation through immersive learning experiences, and advocating leadership, teamwork, and critical thinking skills through curricular activities. Summer 2026 enrollment is described as open, with weekly enrollment available, and the courses are described as fun and engaging, project-based, and focused on hands-on learning of science concepts.
The staff includes Dr. Brian Dean, who received undergraduate and graduate degrees in computer science from MIT, directs the Applied Algorithms Group in the School of Computing at Clemson, directs an NSF-funded REU program in data-intensive computing, and serves as director of the USA Computing Olympiad. The staff also includes Dr. Sheldon Lou, who graduated from the Electronics Department at Qinghua University, earned his M.S. and Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at MIT, has industry and consulting experience with organizations such as Digital Equipment Corporation and Nortel, and has published more than 50 papers in major refereed journals and more than 30 papers in international conferences. Another staff member, Dr. Yi Sun, received his Ph.D. in Decision Information Science from the University of Florida, has more than two decades of experience teaching information technology at the undergraduate and graduate levels at California State University San Marcos, and currently serves as Associate Dean of the College of Business Administration at CSUSM.
Program materials list Ryan Bai as a 2023 International Olympiad in Informatics Gold Medalist and note multiple participants with USA Computing Olympiad performance levels at the Platinum, Gold, and Silver levels.
