About
LuHi Youth Summer Camps offers activity-based sessions that include Jewelry Making, Amazing Animals: A Mixed Media Art Adventure, Graphic Design, Baseball, Basketball Skills – CoEd, and several girls basketball camps for different grade levels. Camp options include Girls Basketball for 4th–6th grade, 7th–8th grade, and incoming freshmen, as well as a CoEd Basketball Skills camp for 4th–6th grade.
• Ages: 9–14 years old
• Schedule: Camps run on selected days Monday–Thursday, Monday–Wednesday, Wednesday–Friday, and one Saturday option, with most sessions held in the morning or midday.
• Price: Camp costs $200 per camp unless otherwise noted; the Girls Basketball, Incoming Freshman camp costs $75.
The Jewelry Making camp meets Monday–Thursday, June 8–11, from 9:00–12:00 pm, and Amazing Animals: A Mixed Media Art Adventure meets Monday–Thursday, June 22–25, from 9:00–12:00 pm. The Graphic Design camp meets Monday–Thursday, June 15–18, from 11:00–1:00 pm. The Baseball camp meets Monday–Wednesday, June 1–3, from 9:00–11:00 am. The Basketball Skills – CoEd camp for 4th–6th grade meets Monday–Wednesday, June 29–July 1, from 10:00–12:00 pm. Girls Basketball for 4th–6th grade meets Wednesday–Friday, June 3–5, from 9:00–11:00 am, and Girls Basketball for 7th–8th grade meets Wednesday–Friday, June 3–5, from 12:00–2:00 pm. The Girls Basketball, Incoming Freshman camp meets on Saturday, May 2, from 10:00–12:00 pm.
For Baseball, campers are asked to bring a baseball glove and not wear metal cleats. For all basketball camps, campers are asked to wear athletic attire and athletic shoes. LuHi Youth Summer Camps notes that refunds are only given for registration cancellations made at least two weeks before camp starts, that partial refunds may be considered under special circumstances such as a family emergency or unexpected hospitalization of the camper, that there is a $10 processing fee for any canceled camp, and that camps are subject to cancellation if attendance numbers are too low, in which case a full refund is given. All camp grades listed are for the upcoming 2026–2027 school year, and grades range from 4th grade to incoming LuHi 9th grade.
The Lutheran Youth Summer Programs state that their goal is to nurture and develop a son’s or daughter’s natural talents and to give them new skills to develop as they pursue their passions. The Summer Camp Coordinator is Kristin Gehrke. Jewelry Making and Amazing Animals camps are led by art teacher Amanda Hoza, the Graphic Design camp is led by LuHi teacher Kalia Williams, the Baseball camp is led by head coach Scott Hormann, the Basketball Skills – CoEd camp is led by coach Kalia Williams, and the Girls Basketball camps are led by LuHi head coach Robby Gabrielli. Marty Kohlwey is Director of Ministry at Lutheran High. LuHi is accredited by the National Lutheran School Association and Cognia, is part of the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod, has an enrollment of 1,100 students for the 2025–2026 school year, and lists tuition as $15,730 for the 2026–2027 school year.
Parent and student feedback about LuHi includes comments that teachers are invested in being strong educators and in knowing students personally, that the atmosphere from teachers is a main reason some students look forward to school, and that students feel prepared for college and future chapters of life. Students also describe learning practical and relational skills, experiencing a strong academic program that prepares them to handle life, and having theology classes that give greater knowledge of faith and daily exposure to the Word. Several students mention that LuHi has supported their personal growth in faith, provided a community and opportunities to grow as students and leaders, and that staff members are willing to take time to talk with students when needed.
