CaZo Dance Theatre was formed by artistic director Bridgette Borzillo in November 2014, and she serves as creative director and artistic director. CaZo Dance Theatre is a kinesthetic dance theatre company that presents full-length dance stories told through raw emotion and a variety of powerful dance styles, and it produces two full-length live performances per year. The organization states that it believes in all students regardless of age, weight, ethnicity, or gender, and describes the studio as non-competitive, encouraging growth based on the drive to push beyond personal limits. CaZo Dance Theatre is a 501(c)3 and held Education Partner status at Mesa Arts Center from June 2016 through May 2020, and it holds a major fundraiser every March that includes special performances, live and silent auctions, food, games, and more.
CaZo’s stated goal is to bring the Phoenix dance and arts community together as a supportive whole, and its vision includes performing in community events, working within the high school system, and traveling to share dance work. All costumes featured in CaZo Dance shows are produced, altered, and designed by creative director Bridgette Borzillo, and professional dancers also serve as instructors and staff.
Parent and audience testimonials describe CaZo Dance Theatre’s shows as creative and emotionally detailed, including a custom 30-minute proposal performance created from a couple’s story, and note that classes blend teaching technique and storytelling. Testimonials also mention partnering classes that focus on connecting with other dancers and describe past shows, including a Halloween performance, as immersive with passionate dancers and engaging choreography.
