Christ’s Church of the Valley (CCV) - CCV Stars, 7007 W Happy Valley Rd, Peoria, AZ 85383
About
CCV Stars Youth Sports offers youth programs in Basketball, Football, Soccer, Club Soccer, and Special Needs sports programs. The program uses a More Than A Game (MTAG) philosophy that focuses on life skill development so that each child can win on and off the field. At every practice, coaches lead a huddle to distribute a Challenge Card, hand out Recognition Certificates, and lead prayer.
During its inaugural season in 2004, CCV Stars had over 600 participants in the recreational soccer league, United Soccer. CCV Stars is a ministry of Christ’s Church of the Valley and invites anyone in the community to participate in its sports programs. The program began as an outreach effort with a goal to connect the church with the community through youth sports and has grown to serve thousands of youth participants in many sports across the valley.
CCV Stars states that its mission is to be a youth sports experience focused on developing character and integrity on and off the field. The program describes three pillars: Character, Competition, and Community. Under Character, CCV Stars states that it instills Christ-based values in its youth. Under Competition, it states that participants play honorably and with maximum effort. Under Community, it states that it builds authentic relationships.
Recognition Certificates are presented to reinforce the weekly word or the three pillars of CCV Stars, and they are not based on performance. Coaches take prayer requests and lead the team in prayer at practices and games. The program states that it wants to partner with parents to further develop the character and integrity of their children based on Christian values.
