SOUNDS Academy offers the Musical Access Program, which exposes children to live performances and Instrument Petting Zoos. It also offers the School Program for instrumental instruction in a group setting, the SOLO Program for one-on-one lessons, and The Collective, an advanced ensemble for hardworking students.

About the provider

SOUNDS Academy began its work in September 2014. Its leadership team includes Kirk Johnson, Founder, CEO, & Teaching Artist; Danyelle Brown, External Operations Manager; and Jade Deatherage, Program Manager. Its mission is to transform lives by empowering youth through teaching music and character values, with a commitment to reaching underserved communities. Its community involvement includes partnerships with over 40 local businesses, foundations, and organizations, and student performances throughout the valley and at places such as The Phoenix Children’s Hospital, Orpheum Theatre, and various festivals in Phoenix.

Need-based scholarships are provided for those that need financial assistance. The fee for the SOLO Program is $70 a month for 30 minute weekly lessons. Scholarships are available for families with a financial need.
