About the provider
DC Dance AZ has 12 seasons of history. Its leadership team includes Christie Wieger, Owner; Amber Olson, Executive Director; and Trisha Folk, Artistic Director. The mission statement says the primary goal has been the same for the last 12 seasons: to help the individual student become a graceful, poised person with highly developed classical dance skills, self-discipline, and an attitude of cooperation and teamwork. It was voted "Best Dance School" by Best of Scottsdale for the past 5 years, 2020-2025.
DC Dance AZ is a non-competition performing arts studio. Class placement is based on level of technique/stage of development, not age. They offer age-appropriate costumes, choreography and music. Performance participants must have a nude/tan camisole leotard and nude/tan tights worn under costumes. Hair for performances is a slicked back, gelled and hairsprayed bun with a matching hairnet and bobby pins. The studio uses black leotards and pink tights/shoes for some classes, black jazz shoes for jazz and pom, black tap shoes for tap, sneakers for hip hop, and barefoot for tumbling/acro.
