Musical Surprise offers private lessons in piano, voice, guitar, bass, drums, ukulele, violin, viola, cello, trumpet, trombone, horn, euphonium, flute, clarinet, and saxophone, as well as lessons in most instruments. The program also offers group classes for preschoolers to adults, preschool music, early childhood music programs, adaptive lessons for those with special needs, and music therapy services. Families can also access band and orchestra instrument rentals, instrument repair and sales, and a full-service music store with instruments, accessories, supplies, sheet music, and music-themed gifts.

Musical Surprise opened in the Harris family living room in 2008, moved to an office park near Reems and Grand Ave the following year, and moved to its current 303/Bell Rd location on January 2, 2012, expanding into the neighboring suite in November 2013. Musical Surprise currently provides lessons to nearly 800 students each week. The teaching studio includes 10 private studios, a keyboard lab, a larger classroom for group classes, and a comfortable waiting area for students and parents, along with a full-service music store that carries digital keyboards, ukuleles, supplies and accessories for most instruments, a wide variety of books and sheet music, music-themed gifts and jewelry, and thousands of retail selections from various vendors.
The program hires degreed teachers, board-certified music therapists, professional performers, and music majors, and has more than 30 teachers who are degreed or certified educators, professional performers, and college music majors. The leadership team includes Lance Harris, Co-Founder and CEO of Musical Surprise; Megan Williams, Studio Director; and Kody Harris, General Manager. Lance Harris has over 28 years of business management experience with a focus on marketing, technology, operational management, and business expansion, holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Southwestern Oklahoma University with an emphasis in marketing and management, and received American Society for Training and Development and Triple “C” Certification from the University of Oklahoma. Megan Williams graduated with an Associate in Arts degree from Glendale Community College. Kody Harris has experience in job costing, cash flow management, financial reporting, and accounting software, and was involved in acquiring licenses and implementing tax law.
Musical Surprise states that its goal is to foster creativity and confidence in students of all ages through exceptional music education and that it believes music is for everyone, regardless of age, experience, or ability. Musical Surprise has teamed up with Music & Arts, which has served students, teachers, and families since 1952, to provide band and orchestra instrument rentals for students in local schools. Parent and student comments mention specific teachers by name, including Lexi, Luis, Mike, and Harvey, and describe experiences such as feeling welcome, having supplemental music that matched a student’s tastes, feeling no pressure during lessons, and a child staying engaged and excited to attend lessons.
