• Ages: 8–18 years old
Offense-Defense Football Camps uses NFL players and coaches, and college coaches as part of its coaching staff, and offers a progressive curriculum developed for all levels of play by NFL and college coaching staff. The organization states that players learn safe, game-winning techniques, tenacity, fair play, and teamwork, with a focus on teaching technique, not tactics. Standard Athletic Testing (S.A.T.) is used to evaluate measurables, and coaches rank and evaluate abilities using a star system, with athletes ranked by position and age group both locally and nationally. Each player is evaluated by coaching staff and dedicated regional scouts using a modified pro-style system, and campers get free online access to Offense-Defense’s personal, Placement, Recruiting, and Exposure (PREview) profile.
Offense-Defense Sports started with one instructional football camp in the summer of 1969 and has been helping youth and high school athletes for over five decades. Offense-Defense football camps are used to evaluate the best high school athletes for inclusion in the end-of-year Offense-Defense All-American Bowl Week, a week-long series of events that includes awards dinners, press conferences, the ODFL National tournament, Youth All-American Bowl Games, a youth football convention, and a coaches clinic. For the All-American Bowl, 80 of the top high school athletes across the country are invited to play, and athletes who have participated in the Bowl include Cam Newton, Dez Bryant, Joe Haden, Rolando McClain, Earl Thomas, Golden Tate, and Carlos Dunlap. Cam Newton and Lamar Jackson were MVPs of the O-D All-American Bowl, and there are stated to be hundreds of former Offense-Defense campers in the NFL, with over 600 Offense-Defense alumni from camps and the Bowl having gone on to the NFL and 28 of 32 NFL teams having active Offense-Defense alumni.
Offense-Defense states it has the largest number of FBS Division 1 signees and that it puts more players in college and the NFL than any other football showcases or training organizations in the United States. Players can earn an invitation with 1,000+ players to compete in 28 games once a year in cities like Dallas, Los Angeles, and Orlando, and can play in up to three games a day in the summer with college and pro coaches, rules permitting. The organization describes its network of scouts and recruiting partners as unrivaled in the industry. Offense-Defense is the title sponsor of the Western Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic League.
The mission of Offense-Defense was stated as delivering football training and instruction the way it was meant to be delivered, at full contact and at full speed. The organization also states: “The love of Jesus compels us to serve others. We believe everyone has been created on purpose and for a purpose. When we compete according to the word of God, by the power of God, and for the glory of God, we can close the gap between performance and potential.”
