Since 1914, Willcox has looked to the Theater for entertainment and culture. The mission of Willcox Theater and Arts is to serve all ages and interests by providing everyone with opportunities to enjoy the arts, and to create, learn, and display accomplishments, while helping to keep the Railroad Avenue Historic District a vibrant downtown in Willcox. Unique features include a historic theater restored inside and out in authentic Art Deco style that shows first run films seven days a week, adjacent spaces called Studio 128 and the Palace in historic buildings, and a Center of Art and Heritage scheduled to open in 2025. Willcox Heritage Pathways is a multi-year project capturing on video the living memories of Willcox from the mid-20th century to the present day, and these videos, along with historical photos and memorabilia, will form the core of an exhibit at the Center of Art and Heritage. The program also runs an Engineering & Technology Institute where students experience different engineering disciplines, jobs, and companies through site visits, projects, and challenges, and it maintains two YouTube channels, one for original content such as podcasts and tutorials and one for news updates and announcements. The theater features a bear mascot named Theodore who works in concessions and marketing and has starred in his own movie, as well as a Cinema Security Guard cat that alerts staff, patrols computer keyboards, and serves as creative inspiration.
The leadership team includes Executive Director Gayle Berry; Director of Movie Theater Operations Gary Clement; Visual Artist Brittany Rhoades; Program Specialist Peter Spitzer; Graphic Designer Josh Allred; Director Center of Art and Heritage Wesley Schofield; Board President Eddie Browning; Vice President Joel Todd; Secretary Jocelyn Allred; Board Members Ron Berry and Patina Thompson; and Treasurer Shelley Thompson.
