The After School and Summer Programs include meals, tutoring, sports, daily academic enrichment activities, homework help, and daily physical activity. The program offers education programs that complement and reinforce what youth learn during the school day, along with activities in physical fitness, character development, leadership training, and experiences in the arts. Participants also take part in leadership and service to others in the Club and in the community, career pathway and workforce readiness learning, internship opportunities, and healthy fun and recreation, with support to make healthy nutrition choices, employ good resistance and decision-making skills, and refrain from participating in risky behaviors.
• Ages: 5–18 years old
• Schedule: After School Programming from 3pm–7pm
• Price: At just $40–$80 per month during the school year (including snacks and a hot, nutritious dinner at no additional cost)
The program is staffed by caring, professional, well-trained staff. Boys & Girls Clubs of the Valley states that its programs are rooted in social-emotional development practices and focus on social and emotional development to build resilient young adults. The organization offers affordable after-school and summer programs for more than 20,000 young people in grades K–12 and provides high-quality, affordable programs that stay open late, including snacks and a hot, nutritious dinner at no additional cost. Programs are organized around four stated Priority Outcomes: Academic Success, Good Character and Leadership, Healthy Lifestyles, and Career Pathways and Workforce Readiness, and are described as award-winning programs designed to change the lives of young people.
For 75 years, Boys & Girls Clubs of the Valley (BGCAZ) has been creating equity and opportunity for youth through academic, social, and workforce opportunities. BGCAZ is described as the largest childcare provider in the Valley and as offering the most trusted out-of-school-time programs in Phoenix and across the Valley. The mission of Boys & Girls Clubs of the Valley is to empower young people, especially those who need them most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible members of the community. BGCAZ states that parents trust the organization to provide a safe, positive, fun environment for their kids’ out-of-school time and that youth develop strong character and leadership skills by creating positive connections to caring adults and their community.
