Vancouver Hawks Junior Programs are part of the Vancouver Hawks Field Hockey Club, which was founded in 1895 in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. The club operates junior programs for U5–U18 throughout the year and states that its purpose is to develop and maintain opportunities for lifelong involvement in field hockey for residents of Vancouver. The club notes that it seeks to align its programs with Canadian Sport for Life principles and adheres to the True Sport Principles. Athletes 14 and under are encouraged to maintain participation in multiple sports, and competitive and advanced skill opportunities are available through Hawks junior programs, Field Hockey BC programs, and integration of junior-age players into senior teams at approximately age 14. The Junior Spring Season is described as the heart of the Hawks’ field hockey community and a flagship program, and it is primarily focused on social connections, skill development, and fun.

Hawks coaches run each Junior Fall session with a maximum ratio of 1 coach per 15 players, with a qualified head coach leading practices. The Junior Fall Season includes entry into a Fall Junior League with other clubs, and games are structured by age group field size with 60-minute durations on quarter-field, half-field, or full-field. The Hawks Junior Spring Academy is aimed at U14, U16, and U18 players and focuses on performance development topics including nutrition, hydration, and mental preparedness. There is also a Hawks FH – Umpire Intake Spring 2026 program for ages 12 to 18 to join the umpiring team with mentoring support.

Camp One is a field hockey camp offered July 2–5 with full-day (9am–4pm) and half-day morning (9am–12pm) or afternoon (1pm–4pm) options, with fees of $315 for full-day and $155 for half-day. Camp Two is a combined field hockey and soccer camp offered July 8–12 as a full-day option (9am–4pm) at a fee of $395 and is offered in partnership with Vancouver Athletic Football Club. Camp Three is a field hockey camp offered July 15–19 with full-day (9am–4pm) and half-day morning (9am–12pm) or afternoon (1pm–4pm) options, with fees of $395 for full-day and $195 for half-day. The 2024 Summer Junior Drop-In for U11–U16 runs from Tuesday June 24 through Thursday August 15, with two sessions per week on Mondays and Thursdays from 6:30–8:00pm, and registration is $40 for the entire summer.

For the 2024 Junior Fall Season, there are 10 sessions from Friday September 6 to Saturday November 16, with no practice or games over the Thanksgiving long weekend. Junior Fall training times are scheduled by age group: U8–U10 on Fridays from 5:00–6:00pm, U11–U12 on Fridays from 6:00–7:15pm, and U13–U14 on Fridays from 7:15–8:30pm, with one game scheduled each Saturday. Junior Fall Season fees are listed as $159 for U8–U10, $189 for U11–U12, and $189 for U13–U14, plus a $50 volunteer bond. Vancouver Hawks 2024 Junior Spring Season fees are $159 for U5–U6, $159 for U7, $159 for U8–U10, $209 for U11–U12, $209 for U13–U14, and $259 for U15–U18.

Participants in the Junior Fall program are required to wear a Hawks reversible jersey for U8–U12 or a Hawks senior jersey for U13–U14, and players who do not have a uniform or who wish to purchase new pieces receive more information before the season. Each player must bring a hockey stick, mouthguard, shinguards, and a water bottle. Hawks members are required to register and pay fees directly with Field Hockey BC (FHBC), and FHBC membership provides insurance coverage for sanctioned field hockey activity in BC. FHBC fees are valid from September 1 to August 31 each year and are due before beginning any programs, and proof of FHBC registration in the form of an uploaded receipt is required to register for all Hawks programs.

The club states that it is committed to making the sport accessible to all and has a no-questions-asked policy around assistance with player registration fees. It notes that players’ ages in the club range from 6 to 82 years old and that it is not unusual for three generations to be involved with the club. The Hawks are described as the second largest field hockey club in Canada, and Field Hockey BC is identified as the provincial body in B.C. with which Hawks members must register for insurance coverage. The organization states that it engages with individuals and other organizations in Metro Vancouver, British Columbia, and Canada to build the sport of field hockey.
