The Agoura Youth Basketball Association is a volunteer non-profit organization dedicated to helping youth build self esteem and self confidence through organized basketball, with a focus on educating and motivating each player to achieve their own individual level of success. The organization states that character development is stressed through teamwork and sportsmanship, with the primary goal for the children to have fun, and that coaches and volunteers will conduct themselves as ethical role models focused on the welfare of the children of the community.

AYBA sees itself as a fundamental part of the local community and raises money for, and distributes funds to, local middle schools and high schools to help improve their facilities. AYBA provides financial assistance to those who need it so everyone can participate in its programs, including the VIP league for special needs players, and has donated over a quarter of a million dollars during the past seven years to a range of projects. These projects include organizing and running the VIP program; donating $100,000 to LVUSD in 2020; paying off over $5,000 in unpaid school lunch balances to LVUSD in 2023, helping more than 400 families; resurfacing gym floors and purchasing a new scoreboard and funding a mural at Lindero Middle School; purchasing new bleachers and refurbishing the cage facility at Oak Park High; providing $10,000 in annual scholarships for Oak Park High, Agoura High, and other local high schools; providing $3,500 in annual donations for the upkeep of both Agoura High and Oak Park High gym floors; purchasing a new scoreboard at Medea Middle School; purchasing TV screens to replace banners at Agoura High; purchasing new uniforms for the JV girls’ basketball team at Oak Park High; funding ABC (Agoura Basketball Club) to support player skill development and supplement local high school coaches’ income; providing community service opportunities for local high school students through coaching, refereeing, and volunteering; and donating to other charitable needs in the community beyond youth sports.
