Alameda Child Development Centers (ACDC), a part of the Alameda Unified School District (AUSD), was established in 1943. ACDC offers programs that serve an average of 200 children ranging from 18 months to eleven years of age, or the end of the fifth grade. Teamwork among staff is used as a bridge to continuity for families as children move from one classroom to the next.

The mission of Alameda Child Development Center is to work as a team of staff, parents, and community to enhance the growth and development of all children, use limited resources to support the success of all children, build a strong academic and personal foundation to continuously close the academic achievement gap for all children, and create experiences that allow for a lifetime of learning and responsible citizenship. ACDC is part of the Alameda Unified School District and provides service to a diverse community of children using a whole child approach system.

The leadership team includes Director Jill Hunter, Office Manager Sandra Ramos, and Office Assistant Lorena Villalobos. The major sources of funding for the program are the California Department of Education Early Education and Support Division (CDE-EESD), California Department of Social Services (CDSS), Federal and State Child Nutrition Programs, the California Adult and Child Food Program (CACFP), the Social Services Agency-Stage 1 Funds (SSA), and parent fees.
