Artventure’s mission is that whether art is a hobby or a future career path, the goal is to make every student say, “I just love being here!” The leadership team includes Jay as Lead Instructor for the Adult Program and Studio Coordinator, Karissa as Lead Instructor for the Teen Program, Sonja as Lead Instructor for the Children’s Program, and Ryann as Social Media Manager. Jay graduated Summa Cum Laude with a BFA in Drawing and Painting with an Illustration Emphasis, Karissa holds a BFA in Illustration from the Laguna College of Art and Design, Sonja graduated Magna Cum Laude with a BFA in Animation/Illustration from San Jose State University, and Ryann is a Magna Cum Laude graduate of Cal State University Long Beach. Artventure is described as an award-winning art school with highly trained instructors, personalized lessons tailored to individual needs, skills, and goals, and an individual skills assessment for every student, supported by a step-by-step drawing and painting curriculum.
Artventure’s students are active in the local art community and are featured in local juried art exhibitions and art festivals. Their artwork is displayed in spaces throughout Orange County, California, including John Wayne Airport, the Norman P. Murray Center, the Pageant of the Masters Junior Art Exhibition, Orange County’s exhibition “1,000 Pieces of Art,” and local galleries. Artventure OC, Inc. serves communities including Aliso Viejo, Laguna Beach, Laguna Hills, Laguna Niguel, Dana Point, Mission Viejo, Lake Forest, Rancho Santa Margarita, Ladera Ranch, and Irvine.
Parent and student feedback includes comments that a 7-year-old student “absolutely loves it” and “wants to be there every day,” and that she likes learning new things and now knows how to draw people. Another review describes a couples painting session as “a blast,” with clear directions from the instructor and a “very clean and modern” studio. A third parent notes that a child looks forward to classes every week and that the program manages to foster independent work while still giving lots of personal attention.
