About
Culinary Kids offers kids' cooking classes, parties, after-school enrichment programs, summer camps, and other cooking classes and special events. The program includes summer “cooking camps” where children create theme-based snacks and meals to share with family and friends. Culinary Kids describes its approach as “Where Young Chefs Come to Play & Learn” and uses a “Recipe for Fun” that includes fun, laughter, friends, smiles, and creativity.
• Ages: 6–14 years old
Culinary Kids states its mission as “Empowering and enriching children's lives through cooking.” Founder Bonnie Bachelor is a credentialed teacher with 12 years of educational experience in grades kindergarten through fifth and has been providing her summer camps for the last 14 years. In 2005, she experimented with a cooking class for kids at Wood Canyon Elementary School, and in the summer of 2008 she taught her first summer “cooking camps.” The leadership team includes founder Bonnie Bachelor and Brie Taylor, who joined the Culinary Kids team in 2017. Culinary Kids has twenty employees and three recipe curriculum designers and enrolls over seven hundred young chefs during the summers. The program is in partnership with Curious Chef!, operates in eight Orange County cities, and its summer camps have expanded into after-school enrichment programs in twenty local schools. By participating in cooking classes and special events with Culinary Kids, families grant permission for the use of participant likeness in photographs, video, or other digital media in any of its publications, including web-based publications and social media, without payment or other consideration.
