About

Culinary Kids offers kids' cooking classes, parties, after-school enrichment programs, and summer camps where participants prepare theme-based snacks and meals. The program invites children to “come mix, mash, and mingle in the kitchen and make some zesty new friends in the process.” Camps and classes are described as “appetizing adventures” in which children create dishes to share with family and friends.

• Ages: 6–14 years old

Culinary Kids states its mission as “Empowering and enriching children's lives through cooking.” The program was first tried by founder Bonnie Bachelor in 2005, when she taught a kids’ cooking class at Wood Canyon Elementary School, and she taught her first summer “cooking camps” in 2008. Summer camps have since expanded into after-school enrichment programs in twenty local schools, and the organization now operates in eight Orange County cities, with twenty employees and three recipe curriculum designers, enrolling over seven hundred young chefs during the summers. Bonnie Bachelor, Founder of Culinary Kids, is a credentialed teacher with 12 years of educational experience in grades kindergarten through fifth and has been providing her summer camps for the last 14 years. Culinary Kids is in partnership with Curious Chef. The program shares a playful “Recipe for Fun” as “2 Cups fun 1 Cup laughter 1 Tsp. friends 1 Oz. smiles 1 Tbsp. creativity.” By participating in cooking classes and special events with Culinary Kids, families grant permission for the program to use participant likenesses in photographs, video, or other digital media in its publications, including web-based publications and social media, without payment or other consideration.
