Little Big Pre-School

Little Big Pre-School includes activities such as phonics learning, recognizing and writing each child’s first and last name, and learning Dolch sight words at the pre-primer and primer levels. Children work on counting up to 100, becoming familiar with basic shapes, and learning primary and secondary colors. The program also includes problem solving activities, positive social interactions with peers, creative expression through art and movement, imaginary play, gross and fine motor development, daily physical activity, healthy eating habits, and proper hygiene habits.

Little Big Pre-School states that “Little Big” refers to Little Angels with Big Dreams and to a commitment to facilitate valuable exchanges between parents and their children. The program aligns with the Reggio Emilia idea that the first teacher is the parent or parents, the second is the teacher, and the third is the environment. The stated goal is to lay the foundation for children to excel in kindergarten by exceeding the California preschool learning foundations, and the program is open for enrollment. The mission of Little Big Preschool is to provide affordable and quality childcare for children between the ages of 2–6, with attention to children’s physical, cognitive, and social emotional development, and to base lessons and activities on the interests of the children while getting to know each family on a personal level.

The leadership team includes Susan Dunn as Administrator, Sarah Holifield as Director, and Arianna Leaureaux as Office Manager. Susan Dunn holds a Bachelor’s in Business Administration (BBA) from NUS, Singapore. Sarah Holifield is a graduate of California State University Fullerton with a degree in child development and dance, and she has a teaching credential in Physical Education for grades K–12 with an emphasis in Dance. Arianna Leaureaux is a graduate of the University of California, Irvine with two Bachelor’s degrees in Psychology & Social Behavior and Public Health Policy. Administrator Susan Dunn states, “We believe that every child has big potential and we need to invest in them and nurture that potential. This is the ethos of Little Big Pre-school.” Director Sarah Holifield states that she believes every child is unique and special and that she enjoys figuring out what children are interested in and bringing those interests into the classroom, and she looks forward to taking part in children’s development at Little Big. Office Manager Arianna Leaureaux quotes Billy Graham: “The greatest legacy one can pass on to one's children and grandchildren is not money or other material things accumulated in one's life, but rather a legacy of character and faith.” Arianna is described as having a passion for her community and especially families, and she believes a healthy community begins with a healthy family, especially children.
