Shaolin Kung Fu Yuan offers training in traditional Shaolin fist, 18 weapons, qigong, wellness exercises, zen meditation, and self-defense. Classes are available for children, youth, adults, and seniors, and follow specific venue rules that include bowing, wearing kung fu clothes and belts in class, and caring for training weapons by putting them back in their original position.

Shaolin Kung Fu Yuan has been serving families since 2012 and states that it has been creating an environment to learn Kung Fu since 1989. The program’s mission for kids and youth includes correcting postures, building body strength, improving physical coordination and physical fitness, building self-confidence, and improving and raising memory. For adults, the mission includes improving the immune system, reducing stress from work, and providing better health and internal peace. The school states that classes are fun, dynamic, and powerful in the essence of Shaolin Kung Fu, and that all new students are welcomed to trial classes.

Master Yanhui Shi, also known as Master Shi YanHui, is the principal of Shaolin Kung Fu Yuan and the president of the US Shaolin Kungfu Association. He is a 34th Generation Monk Master from the Shaolin Temple in China and is described as one of the only 500 monk masters in the world. During 18 years of monastic life in the Shaolin Temple, he received extensive training in Shaolin Kung Fu and Zen meditation and attended over 200 large-scale stage performances, including events for Chinese President Jiang Zemin, Russian President Vladimir Putin, and Olympic Committee President Jacques Rogge.

Venue rules include bowing when entering the kung fu venue, bowing when meeting the master, and bowing when leaving. Rules also state no yelling or screaming in the venue, that parents are not allowed to instruct their child during school hours, and that children are not allowed to use game consoles in the martial arts hall. Students must arrive five minutes early for class, and if absent, they need to ask for leave. The rules emphasize respect, humility, unity, love, discipline, and not bullying or discriminating against vulnerable groups. During COVID-19, the program expressed a commitment to continue making sure people can enjoy learning Kung Fu and highlighted the importance of supporting local businesses.
