American Kids Sports Center offers gymnastics, swim lessons, Ninja Zone, dance, cheerleading, tumbling and trampoline. The program also hosts birthday parties and summer camps that use these sports and activity areas.
American Kids Sports Center was founded in 1984 as American Academy of Gymnastics and has been local and family owned for over 40 years. The leadership team includes owners Michael Williams and Sheri Williams, owner and Director of Operations and Director of Adaptive Sports Matt Williams, and owner and Director of Operations - Northwest Michelle Thelen. The program states that its purpose is to help children learn strong values, set worthy goals, and train in the skills needed to achieve those goals, using sport training as the tool.
American Kids Sports Center includes an Adaptive Sports Center for children with special abilities. Its facilities feature air conditioned gyms, in-ground trampolines and tumble tracks, foam pits and airbag landings, spring and rod floors, high quality mats, and special equipment designed for pre-K age kids. The program offers a non-competitive learn-to-swim program associated with the US Swim School Association, using an indoor heated swimming pool with waveless gutters, dual commercial filters, underwater music, and heated water and air. Dance rooms are set up for parent viewing without distracting students, and American Dancers Workshop, part of the program, has a history of over 50 years in Bakersfield. Families have access to a cafe with snacks and drinks, a pro shop, TVs with live sports, free wireless Internet, and an American Kids Sports Center mobile app and online tools for enrollment, account access, and student skill reports. The program offers access to Hospitality Staff 7 days a week during stated morning, afternoon, and evening time frames, as well as discounts for families involved in more than one recreational program and for those using automatic payment methods. The facilities include spacious and clean lobbies, new and current equipment, air conditioned gym and lobby spaces, and parent viewing that the program describes as the best anywhere.
