Junior Golf Academy of Bakersfield offers warm ups, fundamental full swing practice, and focused work on putting and chipping skills. Participants take part in “Huddle Time” covering rules of golf, mental performance, and life skills, along with challenges and competitions such as par 3 competition, course play, tournament play, play days, and skill challenges. The program also includes High School Tournament Preparatory Classes.

Junior Golf Academy of Bakersfield is a year-round program with six levels of comprehensive instruction for young golfers of all skill levels ages 6–18. The program includes hands-on instruction with 15 students and 3 instructors, individual award certificates, golf balls included at class time, a Riverlakes discount card, and liability insurance included. Clubs are provided if needed at no charge.
The program leadership includes Michael K. Moore as Program Director and Teaching Professional, Michael Moore as Golf Professional and Director of the Junior Golf Academy, and Shelly Moore as Assistant Director, Mental Performance Coach, and JGA Coordinator. Michael K. Moore has been studying the game of golf for over 30 years, received his certified licensed pro card through the United States Golf Teachers Federation (USGTF), has served as head professional at Zaca Creek Golf Course in Buellton, CA, received formal training as a teaching professional at Twin Oaks Golf Learning Center in Goleta, CA, and wrote a monthly article called “Simple Golf” in the Golden Empire Golf Magazine. Shelly Moore has 30 years of experience in personality profiling, is certified in DISC management, life coaching, and leadership coaching, and is a golf psychologist certified by the IGPA, recognized by the PGA and LPGA. The coaches have over 25 years of professional experience and provide professional golf instruction along with mental performance and life skills coaching.
The Junior Golf Academy at RiverLakes Ranch was developed in 2005 and has 14 years of experience teaching fundamental golf skills to juniors. Its mission statement is “Building Character,Confidence & Integrity,One Swing At A Time. Your child will be provided with professional golf instruction in a safe and fun learning environment. We balance instruction with positive incentives in order to encourage young golfers to reach their full potential in the game of golf, and in the challenges of life.” The program is an award-winning year-round program recognized in the top 50 in the world by US Kids Golf, and its curriculum was voted by US Kids Golf as the top 50 in the nation. A Certificate of Completion allows registration for the JGA after school Fall Program as a 2nd level student.
