Kern Equestrian Academy Riding Lessons offers horse riding lessons that combine horsemanship training with guided riding. Riders take part in activities such as horse grooming, hand walking, stall cleaning, horse bathing, and Horse Care 101, and may participate in jumping events at barn shows and competing in outside shows. Helmets and equipment are provided for all lessons, and sessions are offered in semi-private and private formats, as well as a Horsemanship & Mommy and Me Experience for individuals or family members to spend time together with horses.
• Ages: 5–18 years old
• Schedule: Riding school lessons are approximately 50 minutes with 20 minutes of horsemanship and 30 minutes of guided riding; semi-private lesson packages are 50-minute sessions with 30 minutes riding and 20 minutes horsemanship; private lessons are 1 hour; Horsemanship & Mommy and Me Experience sessions are 1 hour; up to 3 semi-private lessons per week are included in the boarding program, and the Show Team requires a minimum of two lessons per week.
• Price: Welcome Package (6 semi-private lessons): $390; single semi-private lesson: $100; 4 semi-private lessons: $320 ($80/lesson); 8 semi-private lessons: $600 ($75/lesson); 12 semi-private lessons: $840 ($70/lesson); 16 semi-private lessons: $1,100 ($68.75/lesson); 24 semi-private lessons: $1,560 ($65/lesson); boarding program and lessons: $1,400/month; private lesson: $160; Horsemanship & Mommy and Me Experience: $50.
Head Trainer and C.E.O. Nicolas Rossi is an FEI-certified coach who completed the FEI Level 1 Coaching Course in 2009. In 2015, he established Rossi Equestrian, and in 2017, he founded Kern Equestrian Academy. The academy states that its mission is to provide top-notch training and instruction so riders have the skills and confidence to excel in the show ring, foster a supportive and inclusive environment, and give horses care and attention, while showcasing the talents of riders and horses at high levels of competition and representing Kern County and California. The academy reports community dedication to proudly representing the local community, Kern County, and the state of California, and has received Gold star barn awards in 2022 and 2023 at the Paso Robles Horse Show and the Best of 2023 Distinguished Teaching award for the best riding school in Bakersfield.
