The camp is a Christian Adventure Camp that focuses on whole-child development through unplugged play and outdoor adventure and is described as the “home of the world’s greatest campers.” Campers are organized into cabin groups of one counselor and up to 7 campers of similar age, with a staff-to-camper ratio of 1:2, and are grouped into Unit 1 (entering grades 3 to 6), Unit 2 (entering grades 7 to 8), and Unit 3 (entering grades 9 to 10). XL Adventure Week is an off-site, add-on program open to any enrolled camper in grades 7 and above, and is a rustic beach camp held at water’s edge on Mammoth Pool.
Yosemite Sierra Summer Camp is operated under special use permit in the Sierra National Forest and is operated on a non-discriminatory basis. One parent shared, “All year long, my sons continue to share stories, memories and traditions that they gather at camp. Camp has made them into great young men, and it has strengthened their bond with each other.” The camp’s stated mission is to create an environment where kids grow the skills they will lean on throughout the coming year and their lives in the years beyond, to create more than a place to get away, and to offer a formative experience that empowers children to become their best selves, navigate a complex world, and discover God’s love and voice in their lives in a personal way.
