Since 2010, Cruz Language Academy has been helping kids, teens, and adults to succeed in learning Spanish. The Kiddos Lingua Spanish Enrichment Program states that it is helping children to become fluent in Spanish by teaching them the teachers’ mother tongue and their grandparents’ traditions with lots of fun. Cruz Language Academy states that it focuses on practicing Spanish from day one using experiential methodology and the communicative approach, centering on listening, reading-comprehension, writing, speaking, and Spanish grammar.

The teaching team includes Mrs. Yipsy De Armas, who has a Master’s degree in Spanish; Ms. Ivanna Castro, who has a Bachelor’s degree in Education; and Mrs. Daniela Rodriguez, who has a Bachelor’s degree in Spanish. They are described as bilingual professors, native Spanish speakers, and background checked, and they hold valid teaching credentials from accredited universities in the USA, Latin America, and Spain. Teachers for private lessons hold a master’s degree, and a bilingual, native Spanish-speaking teacher with a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Spanish is described as having more than 15 years of experience. Some highly qualified teachers are described as having Master’s and Bachelor’s degrees in Spanish, teaching credentials, and more than 20 years of experience, and the program describes its teachers as native speakers, certified, and experienced. Luis manages the Kiddos Lingua program and is an instructor at Cruz Language Academy.

Kiddos Lingua is described as a Spanish class for TK to 5th grade students who attend James Monroe Elementary School, and Cruz Language Academy is an approved vendor for charter schools including Mission Vista Academy, Pacific Coast Academy, Cabrillo Point Academy, iLEAD, Sage Oak, and others. The program states that its services are non-sectarian and non-religious for homeschooled charter school students. It offers beginning, intermediate, and advanced levels for kids, adolescents, and adults, and upper levels are taught entirely in Spanish. The program describes a holistic approach to language learning using communicative, task-based, and experiential methods, along with a bilingual approach (English and Spanish) that takes advantage of learners’ strengths in their native language and transfers those skills to their second language. It also states that it uses Spanish in the child’s environment (family, animals, school, etc.) combined with basic grammar concepts and activities, and that it uses communicative and experiential methods to improve conversational and grammar skills towards fluency.

For Kiddos Lingua 1:1 virtual Spanish lessons, space is limited to a daily enrollment of 5 schoolchildren. Class groups for the Kiddos Lingua after school program are described as limited to 30 students, and elsewhere also as limited to 60 kids for the Spanish after school program. The program offers month-to-month tuition all year-round with Christmas and summer breaks, and it has a 48-hour reschedule policy for classes. Extra activities for oral and written communication are included only in Package 2 to speed up the student’s commitment towards fluency and mastery of Spanish. The program provides unlimited access to resources such as bilingual dictionaries, translators, and verb conjugators, and Spanish literature courses include works by world-class, renowned authors and Nobel Prize and Cervantes Prize laureates. It states that if Cruz Language Academy does not live up to its promises, they ask to be told right away and will restore their values and ensure high quality instruction.

Materials for Package 1 have a one-time materials fee and include a textbook, workbook, audios, and videos according to the Spanish curriculum and program. Instructors also provide materials free of charge such as textbooks, workbooks, bilingual dictionaries, and online resources per session, and homework is provided to be completed during the student’s spare time after class. The program states that it holds a business license and that teachers hold valid teaching credentials from accredited universities in the USA, Latin America, and Spain.
