The camp’s mission statement describes Bear Valley Kids Camp as offering swimming, hiking, animals, crafts, games, music, summer fun, and adventure in a Christ-centered, safe environment. Camp Directors are Michele Dunn and Daphne Hogan, and former Camp Directors are Bev and Austin Pickett. Bev was an elementary school teacher in the Corona/Norco Unified School District for 4 years after receiving her BA and teaching credential from Cal State Fullerton. Austin was an instructor for Suzuki Motor Corp. and taught Motorcycle Mechanics at Riverside Community College after receiving his Associate’s Degree from L.A. Trade Tech. Bev and Austin lived in Big Bear for 34 years and were continually involved in children’s ministry, and they were involved with youth ministry in Norco, California before being married.
