Hello Heart Creative Studio’s mission is to inspire a love for art in children and support their social and emotional growth through hands-on, joyful art experiences that spark creativity and build resilience. The studio’s stated mission also includes cultivating lifelong happiness through creative expression, building resilience, and developing essential life skills that will help children thrive throughout their lives. The program is inspired by Reggio Emilia philosophy, play-based learning, and art therapy, with a focus on the process of creating rather than just the final product, and emphasizes fostering creativity, critical thinking skills, creative problem-solving skills, and strong social-emotional skills in children. Children and adults at the studio engage with diverse materials that inspire imagination, celebrate play, and nurture artistic and social emotional growth, and the studio offers joyful art experiences for toddlers and up, as well as unique classes for older children and workshops for adults.
Hello Heart Creative Studio is led by Founder and Director Eileen Kim, along with art teachers Marlene, Sarah, and Jeaneen. Eileen is an art educator, registered art therapist, and mother of two daughters, and she has been an art educator and art therapist for over 10 years. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Studio Art from USC and earned a Master’s in Art Therapy Counseling from Hofstra University. Eileen is a Registered Art Therapist in California (ATR) and serves as a supervisor for students studying Art and Child and Adolescent Development at California State University, Fullerton.
The studio states that it is dedicated to giving the children in its community a chance to explore and enjoy meaningful, developmentally appropriate visual art experiences that nurture both creativity and social-emotional growth. One parent shared, “My daughter absolutely loves her time at Hello Heart! The classes are so fun and creative, and I can see how much joy it brings her. She comes home beaming with pride, showing off her artwork and telling me all about her day. We couldn’t ask for a better place for her to explore her creativity,” and identified herself as “Evelyn's mom” and “Alexa Young, CA.”
