About
REFINERY Preschool includes biblical songs, biblical stories, discussions about Jesus, and weekly biblical lessons as part of its faith-based and play-based activities. Children take part in educational play, academic work in the Pre-K classroom, arts and crafts, outdoor time, and walks or field trips. Classrooms include an infant room with personalized care and curriculum tailored to developmental milestones, a toddler classroom with play-based activities and daily biblical songs and stories, a preschool classroom with play-based and faith-based activities and a focus on potty training, and a Pre-K classroom that introduces academic work while emphasizing learning through play and expecting children to be fully potty trained.
• Ages: 6 weeks–5 years old
• Schedule: Open Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM–6:00 PM; tours available daily between 9:00 AM–11:00 AM and 3:00 PM–5:00 PM
REFINERY Preschool states that its foundation is rooted in Christian beliefs and that its programs focus on social, physical, emotional, cognitive, and spiritual aspects of development in a nurturing and educational environment. The program is described as serving families in the greater Brea community and notes a notice of nondiscriminatory policy as to students. It operates as a nut-free environment and uses the Procare app for communication with parents.
All teachers are CPR and health and safety certified, meet California state requirements with a minimum of 12 Early Childhood Education units, and are described as experienced in early childhood development and committed to continuous professional development. Teacher-to-student ratios are listed as 1:4 for infants (maximum 3 teachers and 8 babies), 1:6 for toddlers (up to 3 teachers and 12 toddlers), and 1:12 for preschool and Pre-K (maximum 3 teachers and 24 children). The leadership team includes Director Janine Ceballos and Assistant Director Bryanna Gary.
The preschool notes that it has a new state-of-the-art, interactive playground with interactive play structures and an inclusive design, as well as clean and beautifully decorated classrooms and a secure entry system. It is licensed by the California State Department of Social Services and abides by state health and safety regulations under Facility #304270496 and #304370206.
Families are informed that the program provides nutritious snacks daily for children over one year old, while parents provide meals and detailed information about their child’s allergies. One parent testimonial from January 10, 2024, describes the school as clean, well-equipped, welcoming, and safe, and mentions well-planned activities, educational play, arts and crafts, outdoor time, and walks or field trips, along with daily updates and regular newsletters. Other testimonials from 2023 state that families have attended for multiple years, that Refinery Preschool came recommended by friends, and that parents were happy with the staff, facilities, and the way staff engaged with parents at check-in and check-out.
