About

The After-School Bluegrass Club offers a variety of musical activities, including music instruction, instrument lessons, singing, and ensemble playing. Participants can learn to play the guitar, get an introduction to the fiddle, and explore bluegrass jamming, as well as mandolin and guitar basics. Books and instruments are provided if needed, and the community is invited to join the kids for music sessions every Friday.

• Ages: 9–13 years old
• Schedule: Fridays 2:30 – 3:30pm and 4:00 – 5:00pm; Wednesdays 4:30-5:30pm; 8-week course
• Price: $125 for 8-week session (scholarships and sibling discounts available)
• Location: Beginnings School, Octagon building; Sebastopol Community Cultural Center (Youth Annex), 425 Morris St, Sebastopol, CA

The program is involved in the community through partnerships with Help’s on the Way, a local non-profit based in Garberville, and The California Bluegrass Association and Junior Appalachian Musicians. The mission of the California Bluegrass Association is to encourage, foster, and cultivate the preservation, appreciation, understanding, enjoyment, support, and performance of Bluegrass, Old-time, gospel, and traditional instrumental and vocal music of the United States.
