Kids & Art is a California nonprofit organization supporting pediatric patients with cancer and other critical medical conditions, their siblings, families, and support teams using the power of art and creativity. Programs are free for pediatric patient families. Kids & Art works with professional artists to design art experiences and offers programs through care centers.

Amaeyzing ArtKits @Home is a subscription program that sends two independent art experiences each month to participants’ homes, and each ArtKit contains all supplies needed and access to a pre-recorded instructional video. Customized art experiences can include individualized online workshops with a professional artist, programs for a child’s classroom or community group, or family creative sessions where legacy pieces are made for a patient in hospice. Destination Workshops are in-person in inspiring settings with professional artists, other patients, survivors, and siblings. Patient ArtKits for care centers are designed to offer independent art experiences as creative arts support during treatment and include all information and supplies needed plus access to a pre-recorded instructional video. Artists-in-Residence are arts professionals who come to care centers weekly to work directly with patients during long wait times for doctor appointments, chemotherapy infusions, and blood draws, working one-on-one or in small groups in waiting areas, bedside, or community spaces. Kids & Art uses art for healing, to empower, encourage, and create memorable experiences, and serves pediatric patients with cancer and other critical medical conditions, their siblings, families, and support teams.

A donor shared, “I wish every kid on earth can have the chance to be inspired and healed by art!” A volunteer artist at a hospital workshop described a six-year-old using artwork to talk about her feelings. Several parents of pediatric cancer patients and survivors described their children’s experiences with Kids & Art, including feeling less anxious during blood draws, feeling more normal during a difficult time, feeling less scared at the hospital, looking forward to workshops at places like Pixar and Google, and wanting to stay after appointments to work on more art.
