Debate Camp offers summer day and overnight camps to youth in grades 5 through 10, with programs available at locations across North America. Overnight camps are set at some of the most beautiful schools in North America, and one location includes organized outings to galleries, museums, courts, and the House of Commons. Debate Camp’s newest location for summer 2026 is at Cate School in Carpinteria, California, and a Shawnigan Lake School location will host a two-stream camp with a Model United Nations exclusive alongside the traditional debate and Model UN program. Debate Camp’s mission is to empower students with the skills of effective communication and teamwork through debate and public speaking, with the stated goal of creating informed and articulate global citizens in a fun and exciting learning environment. All camps are accredited by the American and Canadian Camping Associations.
Debate Camp began with an inaugural staff team in summer 2002 and has since hosted camps at several schools, including ongoing camps at King’s Edgehill School since 2009, use of Ashbury’s campus since 2017, and use of Bowdoin’s campus since 2023. Shawnigan Lake School hosted Debate Camps from 2002 until 2007, and Debate Camp is scheduled to return there in 2025. One camp location notes that Bowdoin College dining services are ranked #1 nationally by the Princeton Review.
Debate Camp shares picture updates from camps and events throughout the year on Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok, and its YouTube channel shows camp life online and in person. Parent and camper feedback includes comments that Debate Camp exceeded expectations and that families were impressed by the quality of the experience and education.
