Byers Gymnastics offers a range of activities including Parent Participation, Pre-School, Recreational Gymnastics, Homeschool classes, Flip and Fit, Tumbling, Summer Camp, Practice Gym, and Competitive Gymnastics. The program also hosts birthday parties that include fun gym time with a gymnastics coach and party coordinator, as well as Parents Night Out events and Practice Gym sessions for extra skill work.
Byers Gymnastics Center staff members are certified in Concussion Training, CPR and First Aid Training, and are required to undergo background checks, become Safety Certified and SafeSport Certified with USA Gymnastics, and be TB tested. The leadership team includes Rhonda Hawkins (Owner/Head Team Coach), Vikki Thomason (Owner/Gym Director & Recreational Coach), Amy L (Gym Director, Citrus Heights), Jackie Schramm (Gym Director, Rocklin), and Abbey Armenta (Team Manager/Staff Director). Staff attend yearly gymnastics Congresses and monthly staff meetings with gymnastics training, and Elisha was named Optional Coach of the Year for 2021–2022. Byers offers birthday parties every weekend, and all birthday parties include a gold medal and drawstring backpack for the birthday child. Parents Night Out events provide 4–5 hours of supervised activity time at the gym with Byers coaches and include pizza. Byers is hosting Regionals. The mission statement of Byers Gymnastics Center focuses on teaching young athletes to exhibit integrity, honesty, strength, and commitment, accepting others who are different, supporting each other in their goals, and maintaining a culture where coaches and athletes are expected to speak in a polite and respectful manner and be heard, describing the program as a family away from home.
Parent feedback includes comments that coaches are described as amazing, patient, fun, enthusiastic, and firm, that the atmosphere is described as calm and exciting, that class breakdown by age allows skills to be learned together, and that Miss Vikki is described as patient, knowledgeable, and able to see and bring out a child’s potential.
