Kaori's Kitchen is led by Kaori and her mother Yukiko, who are described as a mother and daughter power team, with Kaori having created the business and invited Yukiko to join her. Kaori studied and specialized in ramen-from-scratch and taught a class at The Seasoned Farmhouse, a recreational cooking school in Columbus, Ohio, in 2014, and later taught other Asian cuisine classes at Franklin Park Conservatory. In 2015, she taught English to high school students and ran a bi-weekly cooking club every month, and after moving to the Bay Area in the summer of 2016, she created Kaori's Kitchen. Yukiko has been making mochi for local festivals and bazaars in the Bay Area.

The mission of Kaori's Kitchen is to deepen relationships through authentic interactions while cooking and to create a space where conscientious individuals, friends, and family can come together to make a positive difference in their local community. The mission also states that participants will empower each other with kind, uplifting, and encouraging words, work as a team to beautify their community and relationships, help those who need it most, and use combined creativity in the kitchen to eat well, foster healthy relationships, and create partnerships for improving society.

Kaori's Kitchen offers virtual or in-person cooking experiences for corporate and private groups, including mochi classes, team building, corporate team building cooking classes, and private events focused on classic and fun Japanese cooking. The program features a mother and daughter duo teaching cooking classes, a free mochi cookbook offer, and the Mochi Magic cookbook titled “Mochi Magic: 50 Traditional and Modern Recipes for the Japanese Treat.” For at-home classes, Chef Kaori has arrived ahead of time and brought all necessary ingredients and accessories to the house.

Testimonials describe Chef Kaori as fun, professional, organized, and a wonderful instructor, and mention that classes are hands-on with thorough explanations of ingredients and opportunities to taste different mochi and soups. Feedback from participants on Verlocal.com notes enjoying making and taking home multiple types of mochi, tasting Japanese New Year’s mochi soup, and feeling comfortable making the recipes later. A detailed testimonial from a host in San Carlos, CA, describes a home event where participants ranging from middle schoolers to older adults learned to make several mochi varieties and ramen components, and notes that Chef Kaori was flexible in planning, arrived early with ingredients and accessories, adapted to a small kitchen, and minimized cleanup.
