Children's Programs includes Parent Playgroup and special themed events. Children take part in early learning activities, fun projects, and spooky fun activities such as a Halloween themed dance party and Pizza Dinner. Children practice sharing, taking turns, following a routine, and cooperation through play.
• Ages: 0–5 years old
• Schedule: Playgroups meet on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:00–10:30 a.m.; evening Halloween-themed care runs from 6–8 p.m., with drop-off between 6 and 7 p.m.
Parent Playgroup is a play-based program for children aged 0–5 years and their parents or caregivers, and pre-registration is required. During the Halloween-themed Night Out event, parents spend time away while children spend a Night In with Halloween-themed activities. The organization states that it focuses on supporting the 5 Protective Factors of the Family Strengthening Framework. In 2016, the agency opened a Family Resource Center. Colusa County CAPC is the designated Child Abuse Prevention Council for Colusa County and collaborates with other local entities to prevent child abuse, and it is an active 501(c)(3). The council’s mission states that it wants children to be valued, nurtured, protected, and able to reach their full potential, with agencies in the community collaborating to support children and families toward achieving their goals.
