Midweek Hebrew
Congregation Ner Shalom, 85 La Plaza, Cotati, CA 94931

Even a little knowledge of the Hebrew language provides keys to open the doors of Judaism’s treasure houses. Nitzanim offers midweek Hebrew learning for beginning and continuing Hebrew students, 4th grade and up. Classes take place three Wednesday afternoons a month for one hour, on site at Ner Shalom in Cotati.
Midweek Hebrew launches each session with school-wide song, conversation, and play, helping our young people build comfort with basic vocabulary and Hebrew communication.
The Basics Class then helps our young people master the decoding of the alef-bet and pronunciation of Hebrew words, so they can capture in the written word what they have already learned orally. Parents are invited to register to attend and learn Hebrew alongside their children at no extra charge, so consider what a gem the experience of side-by-side learning with your young one might be like!
Meanwhile, our Continuing Class students will increase their reading proficiency and lean into the study of Torah chanting, uniting word and melody as developed in a range of Jewish traditions around the world.
Midweek Hebrew is taught by Rabbi Irwin Keller.
