Teen Leadership (Madrichimot aka Teacher's Assistant) Program

Step into a hands-on leadership role as a Teacher’s Assistant*—aka madricheh—supporting children from PreK through 5th grade and learners in our B. Mitzvah Academy within a vibrant Jewish learning environment. Collaborate closely with educators to lead creative, engaging activities that explore Jewish values, traditions, and community. As a madricheh, you’ll be a positive role model, helping to create a warm, inclusive space where every child feels seen, supported, and inspired.
This paid position (based on experience) meets monthly on Sundays and requires availability for staff trainings and occasional Family Shabbat events. You’ll gain leadership and communication skills, build meaningful relationships, and play a vital role in empowering the next generation of Jewish learners.

Nitzanim Bagel Brunch & Open House: August 23, 10:00 AM, Congregation Ner Shalom

Policies
Because this is an application for an employment position, we ask that you seriously consider whether or not you can meet the commitments of Nitzanim's Teen Madrichimot Program - i.e. availability for the Nitzanim Bagel Brunch + Open House, the once-per-month gatherings between October through May, occasional Musical Family Shabbats, and periodic staff training.
If you are hired to participate, we understand that life circumstances may arise where you may need to end your participation in the Program. If so, we ask that you give Mia Zimman, Director of Youth and Family Education, written notice at least two weeks in advance of your final work date.
Application to Nitzanim's Teen Madrichimot Program is not a guarantee of employment or participation in the program.
Applications for the 26-27 Nitzanim School Year are due by Monday, August 3, 2026.
Positions available within the Program are limited, although if you are not accepted into the program, there may be other opportunities to work and support Ner Shalom's Musical Family Shabbats and various ritual and congregational programs.
If you are selected to participate in the Program and are under 18 at the start of the program, you will be required to obtain a work permit from your high school and submit employment paperwork. Ner Shalom's administrative staff and Personnel department will assist you with this process.
This is a nine-month program in which you will assist at our once-per-month Sunday Family Experiential Learning gatherings (they occur in various outdoor locations around Sonoma county). The program also requires availability for the Nitzanim Bagel Brunch + Open House event, staff trainings, and occasional Family Shabbat services.
Acceptance to Nitzanim's Teen Madrichimot Program will be a fun and rewarding experience where you will receive guidance and mentorship to empower the next generation of Jewish learners and support their families. We look forward to learning more about you and your interest in our program!
