About
Cupertino FC offers competitive soccer teams, camps, recreational soccer, and Adaptive Soccer. Competitive players take part in team practices and games, while campers and recreational players join structured training sessions. Adaptive Soccer includes soccer activities supported by volunteer buddies and professional coaches.
• Ages: 3–18 years old
• Schedule: Competitive Teams meet for 3 practices plus 1–2 games per week; camps run Monday–Friday during school breaks as intensive 1-week sessions; recreational soccer runs in 6–12 week sessions with 1–2 trainings per week.
Cupertino FC started in 2015 and was built by Cupertino parents for Cupertino families. The leadership team includes Founder and Director Lauv Aeron, Technical Director Bob Joyce, Director of Coaching Pancho Tzankov, Treasurer Kathy Nguyễn, Treasurer Jennifer Younkin, and Administrator Julie Rizk. All programs use professional coaching from certified instructors who are trained by Technical Director Bob Joyce, who has over 50 years of experience, is a sport-science expert, and is the 2024–2025 CalNorth Coach of the Year. Every coach is trained in Bob Joyce’s proprietary methodology, which is based on sports science and kinesiology methods, and the program uses an 8:1 player-to-coach ratio.
Cupertino FC offers year-round training and league play for dedicated players, as well as camps for all skill levels from beginner to advanced. The recreational level does not require prior experience. The Adaptive Soccer program is free for players of all abilities and includes professional coaching with 1:1 volunteer buddies. The club states that it believes the best parts of soccer—teamwork, confidence, and joy—should be available to every child.
Cupertino FC is affiliated with NorCal, CalNorth, USSF, US Youth Soccer, and US Club Soccer, and is home to the coach of U.S. National Team player Naomi Girma. The mission of Cupertino FC is to shape tomorrow’s leaders through athletics, using soccer to teach discipline, resilience, and focus for academic and lifelong success, and to measure success in the confidence, character, and competence players carry after their last game.
Parent testimonials describe small groups with personalized attention, a focus on individual skill development, and coaches whose experience shows in their training, patience, and observation of kids’ capabilities. Parents also note the number and length of trainings and games, coaching that supports younger kids in building strong fundamental skills in a fun and supportive environment, and an administration and coaching staff who are involved with every child. Multiple parents report that Cupertino FC has become part of their “village” and highlight the program’s diversity and personal touch.
