About
Cypress Pony Champions Baseball is a baseball program for children and adults with mental and physical disabilities. Players take part in baseball activities with jerseys, caps, belts, pants, gloves, bats, balls, and helmets provided by the program. Champions play on Saturdays beginning March 2th at 9am on all 5 fields at Oak Knoll Park.
• Ages: 5–18 years old
• Schedule: Champions play on Saturdays beginning March 2th at 9am
• Price: Our program is free of charge to all participants.
The program states that it provides a fun and safe environment for children and adults with mental and physical disabilities to learn and enjoy the game of baseball. The division welcomes all regardless of ability, from high-functioning to the most severe disabilities, and has reached over 200 players in the Champions Division this year. All managers and coaches are volunteers who have a special-needs child or adult of their own or who work as teachers, therapists, or other service providers in the special needs field. The program reports that it is the largest special needs baseball organization in the United States, serving families in an area stretching from central Orange County up to South Los Angeles, and describes itself as the biggest in the West or maybe the world. Los Alamitos Youth Baseball and sponsors such as CARE TO STAY HOME are listed as supporters who help keep the Champions Program free to players.
