Danville Montessori School

Danville Montessori School offers activities in language, mathematics, science, geography, culture, practical life, sensorial work, botany, and zoology using a full range of Montessori materials and curriculum. Children work with phonetics, symbolic representation of letters, blends, digraphs, word construction, reading flow and comprehension, sentence construction and structure, handwriting, and sentence analysis. Math activities include association of quantity and number symbols, memory work, concrete abstraction, the decimal system, arithmetic operations such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division, and geometric studies. Science activities include hands-on, simple experiments with magnetism, gravity, light, and electricity, as well as investigation of volcanoes, earthquakes, and pre-historic creatures such as dinosaurs. Children also engage in practical life skills such as pouring, sweeping, buttoning, scrubbing, and zippering, along with sensorial exploration of smell, taste, sight, sound, touch, and grading of size, shape, and color.

Danville Montessori School has been serving preschool-aged children two through six years of age in Danville and the Tri-Valley area since 2000. The school states that it adheres to the foundational tenets of the Montessori educational method and is accredited as a satellite member of the American Montessori Society. The mission of Danville Montessori School is to build strong educational relationships with its diverse students as a path for future educational achievements. The school’s community involvement includes serving preschool-aged children two through six years of age in the Danville and Tri-Valley area.
