Perfect Start Learning offers a daily routine that includes a morning welcome with play-based learning, small group activities with hands-on exploration, and outdoor play and movement. Children also participate in story time, music, and creative activities, followed by lunch, rest or quiet time, and afternoon learning centers.

Perfect Start Learning is a licensed family child care early education program operating in a calm, intentionally small, home-based setting with limited enrollment. The program focuses on structured play-based learning, social-emotional development, and strong daily routines, with social-emotional learning included in everyday routines and interactions. Activities emphasize play-based learning that builds early language, literacy, and math foundations, along with daily chances for independence, problem-solving, and peer connection. The program supports early language, literacy, math readiness, and independence in age-appropriate, engaging ways and prioritizes play, connection, and hands-on experiences.
Perfect Start Learning was founded in 2012 by Tessie Ragan, M.Ed., and first began in Maryland before relocating to California in 2016 due to a military move. Ms. Tessie is the owner and educator of Perfect Start Learning and holds a Bachelor’s degree in Birth–Kindergarten Education and a Master’s degree in Early Childhood Education. The program’s mission is to provide a warm, enriching learning environment where children feel safe, known, and supported through structured play-based learning and social-emotional development. Perfect Start Learning serves the Edwards AFB and Rosamond, CA community and describes itself as a small learning community built on service, purpose, and a commitment to giving every child the perfect start, with families at the heart of the program. The program is rooted in stability, connection, and high-quality early learning, and enrollment is open for the 2026/2027 school year.
