About
The Playground Learning Center offers open-ended exploration, project-based learning that follows children's interests, and hands-on activities. Children take part in outdoor exploration, daily sensory activities, and water activities in the summer.
• Ages: 0–5 years old
• Schedule: Open Monday through Friday from 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM
The Playground Learning Center follows a Reggio Emilia-inspired approach with playful learning at the heart of the program and an emergent curriculum that follows the curiosity and interests of each child. Classrooms are set up as inviting and stimulating spaces with natural materials and open-ended resources, and the environment is treated as a “third teacher.” The program includes a strong emphasis on social collaboration and working in groups, with teachers acting as co-learners and collaborators who observe, listen, and document children's work. Families have access to a parent portal, daily reports, newsletters, parent-teacher conferences, email, and phone calls for communication, and the program uses documentation through photos, videos, and written observations to capture children's learning. Age-appropriate classrooms include Fish (Infants), Frog (Young Toddlers), Bunny (Toddlers), Turtle (Preschoolers), and Dragon (Pre-K), with teacher-to-child ratios of 1:3 for Infants, 1:4 for Young Toddlers, 1:6 for Toddlers, 1:8 for Preschoolers, and 1:10 for Pre-K.
The Playground Learning Center first opened its doors in January of 2022 under the direction of Shenea White. The program holds licenses Lic #376105056 and Lic #376105050.
Parent feedback describes the center as a daycare facility that supports families managing work and caregiving, with staff described as kind, dedicated, and communicative. Parents and caregivers mention children making friends quickly, feeling safe and comfortable, and bringing home projects, artwork, and evidence of learning progress. Several families note daily sensory activities for infants, water activities in the summer, and the use of the Brightwheel app to share frequent photos and videos. Multiple testimonials mention specific teachers and staff by name, long commutes chosen to attend this center, and children enrolled from as young as 5–6 months through toddler and preschool years.
