Youth Golf Instruction at Cottonwood Golf Club offers individual youth golf instruction, junior group golf instruction, and on-the-course guidance. Lessons can include analysis of weaknesses and strengths, as well as specific work on putting, chipping, the Short Pendulum Swing, the Big Swing, course management, and swing fundamentals refresher. Range balls are included with lessons.
• Schedule: Lesson options are available Monday–Saturday from 6am–8pm and Sunday from 6am–7pm, with youth individual sessions offered in 1-hour lessons and package options of 3 x 1 hour or 6 x 1 hour.
• Price: Youth Instruction – Individual 1 Hour $45; Youth Instruction – 3 x 1 Hour $125; Youth Instruction – 6 x 1 Hour $250; Junior Group – 2 Junior Players $80 ($40 each lesson); 3 Junior Players $105 ($35 each lesson); 4 Junior Players $120 ($30 each lesson).
Youth Golf Instruction at Cottonwood Golf Club is led by John Klein, PGA Teaching Professional, who has been with the PGA since 1977 and serves as the Men’s and Women’s Golf Coach at Cuyamaca College. John has served on local and national teaching committees promoting the game of golf, and in 2025 he will be celebrating 46 years of teaching individuals with disabilities to play golf. He was voted “Coach of the Year” by his coaching peers in 2016 and 2017, taking his women’s team to the State Championship in each of those years, where the teams finished 3rd and 5th, and he received the 2021 Heritage Award from the Southern California Section of the PGA of America. John also has programs with several rehab centers in San Diego, where he uses golf as a form of therapy in collaboration with physical, recreational, occupational, and speech therapists.
