About

SquashDrive combines academic support, squash, and character-building activities in one integrated program. Students take part in academic tutoring, academic enrichment, homework help, and interactive STEM workshops. They also receive squash and fitness instruction, compete in squash tournaments, and can join week-long squash camp opportunities, along with service projects, cultural outings, mentor outings, travel opportunities, adventure trips, and community service.

SquashDrive’s mission is to enable East Bay students to reach their full academic, athletic, and personal potential. The program reports that students receive 115 hours of homework help each year, and all students participate in interactive STEM workshops and are exposed to career options in the STEM field. According to the program, 100% of students matriculate to the next grade each year, all students maintain a 3.0 GPA or better, and 100% of students receive individual mentoring from staff and volunteers.

All students receive a minimum of 100 hours per year of squash and fitness instruction, and 100% of students have a chance to compete in squash. SquashDrive states that squash is a lifelong sport that teaches discipline, focus, and teamwork. The program notes that last year it offered more tournaments and week-long squash camp opportunities than ever before, and last year it saw its first student break into the top 100 nationally. SquashDrive also reports that its elite team members attain national rankings.

The program states that 100% of high school students have a college-based summer experience. All students complete 10 hours of community service per year, and students build character through service projects, cultural and mentor outings, travel opportunities, and adventure trips. SquashDrive partners with UC Berkeley and members of the Bay Area business and volunteer communities, and it is a 501(c)(3) organization.
