Camp Funderblast includes active games, arts and crafts, water play, nature exploration, dress up days, skits, songs, storytelling, root beer float parties, Tye Dye Fridays, cooking projects, swimming, nature adventures, themed weeks, new friends, and dance parties. The program also offers Kids Night Out and birthday parties in person and on Zoom. Photos of kids holding up positive messages appear throughout the Camp Funderblast website.
• Ages: 4–12 years old
• Schedule: Summer camp runs Monday to Friday from 9am–3:30pm, with a drop-off window from 9–9:30am and a pick-up window from 3–3:30pm; registration is by week-long sessions.
• Price: General public $475 per week; RVC/Kinderblast families $451.25 per week; the week that includes July 3rd is prorated.
Camp Funderblast is entering its seventh summer at Saint Rita's School Grounds in Fairfax. Camp Funderblast was started by long-time camp maestro Veronica Rae Cowen. The mission of Camp Funderblast is “Supporting Kids In Being Their Best!!!” for 4–12 year olds, with a focus on making sure each child feels seen, loved, and safe, and on leading by example. The program keeps its camp small, local, and loving.
Camp Funderblast is connected with several community sites, including Scott Valley Swimming and Tennis Club, Homestead Valley Community Center, Peace Lutheran Church, and Ross Valley Charter School. At the Scott Valley location, families have the option of professional tennis lessons at Tennis Camp, and at the Homestead or Scott Valley locations, camp staff escort campers to and from swim lessons. PM extended care from 4–5pm is available at the Peace Lutheran location in Mill Valley. For the daily schedule, what to bring, and weekly themes, families are directed to the Fairfax Schedule.
