Mid-Winter Break at Lake Lagunitas

Lake Lagunitas, Sky Oaks Road, Fairfax, CA 94930

Celebrate the magic of winter with five days of outdoor adventure at Lake Lagunitas! Our days are filled with child-led discovery, hands-on experiences, and plenty of time to explore the beauty and wonder of the winter season.

Children go on gentle hikes, search for signs of wildlife, explore the lake, creek, and woodland, collect natural treasures, build with natural materials, create winter-inspired art, tell stories, play imaginative games, and discover the changes that winter brings to the landscape.

Inspired by the Reggio Emilia philosophy, our small-group camp encourages curiosity, creativity, collaboration, and a deep connection with the natural world. With plenty of time for free play, exploration, and quiet observation, children build confidence, friendships, and lasting memories while learning through firsthand experiences outdoors.

WHY FAMILIES LOVE LAKE LAGUNITAS

Families love Lake Lagunitas for its peaceful beauty, winding trails, and endless opportunities for discovery. Surrounded by redwood forests, quiet woodland, and the sparkling lake, it feels like a world away from everyday life. Winter brings its own special kind of magic—misty mornings, moss-covered trees, muddy trails, fallen leaves, and the sounds of birds and wildlife throughout the forest. Children build confidence as they hike, climb, explore, and engage in imaginative play while forming lasting friendships in a small, nurturing community. It's a place where kids can slow down, get wonderfully muddy, follow their curiosity, and experience the joy of childhood outdoors.

OUR RHYTHM

Welcome Circle & Introductions

Welcome songs, movement, and simple group activities to build routine and connection. Teacher Liesha will introduce the day's activities and invite children to notice something special about the winter landscape.

Free Play

This is the heart and soul of our camp! Campers explore the creek, woodland, or lake and may go on scavenger hunts, build with sticks and natural materials, make art, play imaginative games, or spend time connecting with each other.

Goodbye Circle

A closing song, story, or movement game creates a calm transition and helps children prepare to leave.

"We are so grateful for Snails & Turkey Tails. It's a warm, welcoming community where children are encouraged to explore, take risks, and simply enjoy being kids. Our family loves being part of it."
