UCB Theatre and Training Center

UCB Theatre and Training Center offers Improv Comedy, Sketch Comedy, a Writing Program, Musical Improv, Stand Up, Clowning, and Acting. Students are introduced to the UCB concept of "game" in comedy and develop scenework, refine comedic scenes and write and produce their own sketch show, and study comedic TV writing through workshops led by industry experts. The program also includes work on musical and comedic instincts, joke structure, set lists, performance, audience sensitivity, and character development.

Programs

• Improv Comedy — Students are introduced to the UCB concept of “game” in comedy and develop their scenework.
• Sketch Comedy — Students refine their comedic scenes and culminate by writing and producing their own sketch show.
• Writing Program — Aspiring writers follow a curriculum focused on comedic TV writing through workshops led by industry experts.
• Musical Improv — Students develop musical and comedic instincts, integrating scenes and songs and learning to improvise songs with an accompanist.
• Stand Up — Courses cover generating material, joke structure, creating set lists, and performing.
• Clowning — Workshops blend performance training that hones audience sensitivity, embraces failure, and finds freedom in risk.
• Acting — Classes provide training in character development, scene grounding, and performance commitment.
